Truly understanding the why behind a technique before you implement or criticize, absent of emotion and feelings, is the path to mastery.
First stage of first match in 5 years

BACK IN THE ARENA. First match in 5 years (except one after I got my knee replaced but not counting that one cause I wasn’t 100). My times were good. I didn’t look like a pregnant yak when moving. Points were OK until I went Ricky Bobby on the classifier. Thanks to @gil_fortitude_consulting for getting me out to shoot. 9 5 6 Drill
Переглядів 5 тис.5 місяців тому
Fun drill from the minds of the firearm instructors at the McAllen office of Border Patrol. It is the 9 5 6 drill. 9 rounds (draw 6 rounds to an 8 inch circle slide lock reload of then 2 back to the 8 inch circle then 1 to 3 inch circle in the headbox). Drill is shot at 5 yards. 6 seconds is the par time from a duty rig with an open reload. Here is a cold 4.72 run from concealment.
Strong hand only Bill drill from ALS

@hunterfreeland challenged me to do a strong hand only bill in class. Gave me a .25 handicap because of the ALS. Almost claimed glory with this 2.14 with one Charlie.

This was helpful. Thanks.
The fuck is he talking about. Who's out what's he talking about shooting the dead bug? Or is he talking about a shootout on a six lane highway????
@@justinkeith6350 I think he’s talking about how you failed your GED exam
I appreciate how all you top trainers work with and support each other.
Well, I’m sure late to the red dot party! Just put a dot on my PDP. The Holosun SCS. I can see it just fine even though I target focus. Took it out for the first time last week to see how I do with the dot. It seemed to jump all over the place! But I was focused so much on the target I was shooting, I was neglecting my grip and noticing the dot jumping all over. This makes sense to me! Berm drill it is!
Bro using Deftones has me sold
Thanks good info

Maybe just don’t drop the firearm?
It's like Steven Seagal....
they’re terrible. The best p320 anyone can get is getting a p226 instead
Awesome video. Give in to the dot!
What about Sprinco guide rod? Just asking if it’s better.
Actually, I’ve heard a million times how the 1911 has a high bore axis. It’s not subjective…
Would’ve been funny if the dude chambered a snap cap as the first round and the instructor anticipated the recoil.
This was great...to the point, addressed question, and got out of there...👍🏾🔥
My recoil control definitely comes from my shooting hand. I make it a point to frequently practice single hand shooting.
@@Hoellewood_Solutions Are we talking about one handed shooting? No.
Will the guide rod work in a PDP Compact Pro 4.6”?
@@JayWardrip 4.5? Yes
Holy shit my man your looking good keep it up
Romans 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing the glory that is to be to revealed to us.” God bless all of you have an amazing day. Remember God loves you, and will always forgive you.
For that micro drill: I am noticing that my reaction time from the beep is at most .80 to 1.00 seconds to build that full firing grip and clear my cover garment. How should I go about improving that time?
I love the stainless steel captured guide rod from ZR Tactical solutions. Completely changed the gun making it an even better gun
This guy is a tool.
“Let me show you how I control this recoil” proceeds to shoot one round per 2 seconds 😭
Lower bore axis is always better, the question is how MUCH better and the answer is almost always "barely"
People think because a gun has more recoil that means its "uncontrollable" recoil. If you apply proper grip and control recoil doesn't matter. People like to talk crap on hard recoil pistols while ignoring glocks that wont cycle if your grips too loose.
Yet, here you are on the very same internet 😂😂😂😂😂
He's right about the support hand controlling recoil, but the demo was pointless. Run some Bill Drills with a lower bore axis gun and watch the comparison on Slow Mo. Bore axis height does make a difference.
@@aaronbullock6454 Not with my grip
@@ModernSamuraiProject That's what you say, but the demo was still pointless. Just a teaching point. I guess you're an instructor that can't learn anything.
@@aaronbullock6454 I learn everyday but not from someone with zero content on their channel and zero accomplishments.
@@ModernSamuraiProjectI don't need a channel and content to provide constructive criticism. I've taught firearms for almost 20 years. Best of luck to you sir. Your responses show your character.
@@aaronbullock6454 Keep telling yourself that. Now go do something of value.
Recoil control, part of it, is supported by your strong hand. This man is WRONG!!
Amen!
Congratulations!!!!
It’s also about recoil impulse. A gun with a higher bore axis feels a lot different to shoot than a gun with a low bore axis. I think the 320 recoil feels chunky compared to a Glock.
Que all of the arm chair experts 😂😂
Curious about grip, wondering if you have changed the wave grip up or if it's something that just doesn't play out in reality since in these examples you're not leading with your support hand index finger into the trigger guard and rolling your grip around and up as you describe. It's more of just slapping your support hand across your firing hand or even sliding the two together from bottom to top, it was a bit different each time really. I'm just wondering if from an instruction point of view is too much emphasize placed on the exact sequence in which your hands come together, which you can see in videos and discussions in the comments or various groups ends up confusing people, considering that when pressed for time and not specifically demonstrating that technique it's not what you default to.
@@Tinker.Studio The knuckle index is a guide for consistency. At speed it in not always perfect but satisfactory enough to accomplish the task. In addition you can see the rolling of the support hand grip because these videos are taken from the firing hand side.
Bore axis has nothing to do with the grip of your firing hand. It has everything to do with mechanically reducing the leverage on the fulcrum. Tell me you don’t know how to shoot without telling me…
Was the least favorite gun i ever owned. The trigger pull was almost 7 lbs and the reset was absolutely horrendous.
Fire that firearm single handed and still tell me it comes from the support hand 😂🤦♂️🤡
@@Fordgroup00 Different technique when shooting one handed but basically the same concept. Here you go genius. ua-cam.com/video/YZzu-L_r3pc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

@@Fordgroup00 Two different things. Two different techniques. All of which you are clueless.

Thumbs shouldn’t be pointing up.
@@doug7040 Please explain why you have adopted this absolute.
@@ModernSamuraiProject Any pistol instructor will tell you that. The control hand thumb should be parallel to the barrel, pointing at the target, resting along the lower. The grip hand thumb (for righties) often needs to cross over the base of the control hand thumb to avoid hitting the slide release, especially for smaller frame pistols. With thumbs pointing up like this, you’re increasing the chances of malfunctions. Again, no pistol instructor would say thumbs pointing up toward the sky is fine.
@@doug7040 The 90s called. They want their techniques back.
@@ModernSamuraiProject Yoi clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. Good luck, dude.
@@doug7040 Do some research. Then realize how much I teach and who I teach. Then look at yourself and your low performing mentors. Reevaluate your life and your antiquated techniques based on Ill performing guns. Find instructors that base performance on speed and accuracy not outdated Dogma.
I would be more worried about how your flipping a loaded gun around, teacher or not, and before you say I know you been teaching for 20 years. Your to comfortable, always have a firm grip and if you want to show off unload the damn thing.
